Hurricane Sandy destroyed 93% of homes and businesses in Ortley Beach, NJ in 2012, affecting nearly 3000 homeowners. Friends of Ortley Beach was born out of a desire to celebrate the resiliency and can-do spirit of our coastal community.
Friends of Ortley Beach seek to develop cultural activities, educational programs, and neighborhood events that foster community engagement in order to spur the social and economic vitality of Ortley Beach, particularly as we continue to rebuild from Hurricane Sandy. We will also advocate and encourage protection of the coastal environment.
Our philosophy is to partner with businesses and organizations to raise awareness of the history of Ortley Beach, and to establish support for the arts, education and culture.
